Suntera Global’s Rose Chan, Head of Private Wealth, Hong Kong, heard experts in their field discuss the most significant developments in Singapore’s wealth management sector over the past year at one of the region’s most insightful events.
Attending the Independent Wealth Management Forum in Singapore last month, Rose listened to a number of key speakers delve into the intricacies of Asia’s wealth management market, identifying the sources of future growth and the strategies necessary for both established independents and new market entrants to leverage opportunities.
Outlining the many challenges ahead, the high calibre speakers highlighted the intensifying competition, tougher than ever compliance environment, rising costs and the shortage of talent as key drivers shaping the landscape.
And, while the potential for growth was deemed to be undeniable, it was made clear to delegates that independent firms must remain focussed and forge a strategic path - one which also takes into account the shifting landscape prompted by a new generation of wealth leaders coming to the fore – if they are to remain relevant.
With its ethos of ‘empowering responsible ambition’, Suntera Global - who were also a sponsor of the event - are more than equipped to release this potential.
Notably, discussions also centred around the broadening of the wealth management sector’s investment scope to include private and alternative assets and the growing role digitalisation.
Commenting on the event, Rose said: “Since the pandemic we have come to realise the true value of being able to meet physically and attend conferences, so it was fantastic to return to Singapore, especially as one of the sponsors of the Hubbis organised event. Conferences like this are always invigorating and facilitate debate among practitioners from different areas within the same ecosystem.
“Chiming with one of those key discussions, at Suntera we have already seen the trend and implementation of digitalisation and diversification in every aspect of the private wealth supply chain, from the way an investment manager or professional trustee manages investment portfolios, to the appetite in investing into diversified markets and products. It is absolutely clear that pragmatic yet innovative solutions that not only meet a client’s current needs but also prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead are a must – an approach Suntera is committed to.”
