Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust is an international charity, headquartered at Jersey Zoo in the Channel Islands, working to save species from extinction. Established in 1959 by author and conservationist Gerald Durrell, their work spans the four pillars of the Zoo in Jersey, rewilding sites with hands-on conservation, conservation training through their Academies in Jersey and Mauritius, and Conservation Science.

Following their successful Go Wild Gorillas trail in 2019, Tortoise Takeover has been planned for 2023 to raise money to build a new Tropical House at Jersey Zoo.

We are passionate about supporting local ambitions and when we heard about Jersey Zoo’s vision for their new Tropical House, we knew we had to help. The new Tropical House will provide the enhanced facilities the zoo needs to care for its many amphibians and reptiles which include some of the most endangered species that Durrell works with. Sadly, species like tortoises, turtles and terrapins are part of the most threatened vertebrate group and so they need the help of Durrell, companies like us, and the local communities.

We have seen first-hand the impact of these trails for their chosen charities as we sponsored the Wallabies Gone Wild and the Big Splash art trails in the Isle of Man in 2019 and 2022 respectively. Both trails were in aid of Hospice Isle of Man and the funds raised were invaluable in enabling the charity to carry out the vital work they do. We hope that Durrell's Tortoise Takeover is just as successful and provides the zoo with the funds and recognition they need to allow them to continue the exemplary care they provide for their animals.
